Terms of Use

Version 2026-10

These terms apply when you use Alpha Speller, a spelling and vocabulary game run by P C HUANG (Australia) ("we", "us"). By creating an account or playing you agree to them. If you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian agrees on your behalf.

1. Who can play

An account is opened by an adult (18 or older), or by a person under 18 with the permission of a parent or legal guardian. Children normally play as players inside a parent's account. The parent or guardian decides whether and how a child uses the site, and is responsible for the child's use of it. By opening an account for a child, or by adding a child as a player, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or that you have their permission to do so.

2. Your account

• Give true information, especially your e-mail address.
• An account holds up to 3 players (the account holder and 2 children). Add children under a nickname, never a real name.
• Keep your password secret. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
• One account is for one family. Do not share your password or let people outside your family sign in to your account, and do not use someone else's account. Family members play as their own players inside the account.
• An account can be used on one device at a time: signing in on a new device signs the earlier one out. We may ask you to confirm a sign-in by e-mail, and we may sign you out or suspend an account that appears to be shared.
• Choose a player name that is not a real name and is not rude, offensive or misleading. We may change or remove names that are.

3. Fair play

You must not use bots, scripts or other tools to play or to create accounts, exploit mistakes in the game, try to break or overload the site, or look for other people's information. We may reset scores, remove points and suspend or delete accounts that break these rules.

4. Free trial and membership

The spelling game and Alpha Rank are free. Alpha Drill is free for 30 days from the first time an account opens it. After that it may need a paid membership (currently USD 12 a year for one player, or USD 30 a year for up to 3 players in one account). We will tell you before memberships are switched on, and prices may change for future periods.

5. Rankings, rewards and prizes

Points, titles and the ranking board are for fun and learning. If we offer rewards or prizes in the future, they will have their own rules, published before they start, and these terms will not promise any.

6. Our content

The words, audio, sentences, exercises, design and software of Alpha Speller belong to us or our licensors. You may use them to play and learn on the site. Please do not copy, collect or republish them without our written permission.

7. The game is a learning tool

We work to keep the content accurate, but we cannot promise that it is free of mistakes or that the site will always be available. Results in the game do not guarantee any result in a test or exam.

8. Limits of responsibility

The site is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses caused by using or not being able to use the site. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded.

9. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time under Settings. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms.

10. Privacy

How we handle personal information is explained in the Privacy Policy.

11. Changes and law

We may update these terms; the version above shows the current one, and we will ask for approval again where the law requires it. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
